伍迪（凯文•席格斯 饰）与妮儿（萨梅瑞•阿姆斯特朗 饰）来自背景各异的家庭，不留既是邻居以外他们还在同一所学校。伍迪擅长橄榄球，不留妮儿则品学兼优，性格完全不同的两人视对方为敌人。一天他俩在阿兹特克大神面前争吵，第二天醒来后经发现自己的身体与对方调换了。让他们都十分困扰的是要面对一个完全不同的生活环境与家人朋友。尽管他们用尽了办法要换会自己的身体。未果后两人都决定要用这次机会败坏对方的名声，让对方出尽洋相。妮儿的高校面试与伍迪的橄榄球赛日子快到了，慌忙的他们只好互相合作，教会对方自己的本领。在这个相处的过程中，他们都发现了对方的特点，冰释了之前的一切误会，情愫渐生……
