重案组肥棠（林雪 饰）嗜赌成性，日韩欠下高利贷，日韩终日被放债人陈耀雄（林家栋 饰）追讨。肥棠被逼无奈，竟打起警署内赃款的主意，他盗取赃款却仍填不上债务窟窿，只好藏进小旅馆躲避阿雄。PTU的沙展阿森（任达华 饰）得知肥棠私盗赃款，想方设法保护和帮助好友，却毕竟能力有限。偶然机会，肥棠和隔壁四个潮州同乡相识，更因其专业车手的经历和技术得到对方赏识。不曾想这四人竟是内地过来的悍匪，他们力邀肥棠入伙，为金钱和道义所惑的肥棠踟蹰不定。迷途的警察能否找到归来的路……
